Yul, one of the newest additions to the team, takes the spotlight for the month of April.
His entry to ChatGenie is kind of a funny story. He mistakenly applied for an internship position but when asked by CEO Ragde Falcis about his target position, he was quick to say that he was in fact looking for a full-time job.
Joining a local tech startup like ChatGenie was a new experience for Yul. Before officially working as the team’s Activation Specialist in late January, he mostly performed administrative tasks for various international companies. Most recently, he served as a customer success engineer for a software as a service company.
The change in job responsibility was apparent for Yul. In his previous job, he was only involved in talking to end-users and helping out with customer issues. Now he’s taking a more hands-on approach as a member of ChatGenie, engaging with company clients and setting up online stores for businesses.
Admittedly, Yul said it took him a while to fully embrace his role. But after a few weeks, he’s already made the adjustment and is now on cruise control. His primary job is to launch online stores for businesses, which includes understanding client needs, putting up product catalogs, configuring shipping options and training clients on the activation process. He’s also involved in the post-activation side of things like attending to layout concerns and fixing bugs.
Yul’s hobby of tinkering with electronics played a part in this adjustment period. He likens his job of setting up and configuring the ChatGenie Mini App to building things from scratch, salvaging electronics, and restoring broken equipment.
According to Yul, there are a lot of things that you can do with the ChatGenie Mini App if you dissect it.
A reliable Activation Specialist—that’s what Yul is! It’s no wonder that he’s gotten such great compliments from ChatGenie clients.

What's your go-to karaoke song?
I have two. Oasis' Dont Look Back in Anger and The Killers' Mr. Brightside.
What’s the next big purchase you want to make?
I plan on getting a house for my partner and me. On a smaller scale, I’d like to buy a new gaming PC.
What was the best trip you’ve ever been on?
The one that comes to mind is our family trip to Bais, Negros, where we went dolphin watching.
If you could have dinner with one person (living or dead) who would it be?
I’d like to share a beer with my grandfather who passed away a few years back.
Would you prefer to go camping or chill at a resort?
Camping is definitely more interesting and fun. The hike to the campsite is a big plus.
